Funeral for Percy Manuel to be Held Sunday Afternoon

Percy Manuel, 59, of Kincaid died at 7:27 p.m. Friday, December 28, 1945, at his home. He had been in ill health for the past five months.

Mr. Manuel was born November 11, 1886 in Silverdale, England, the son of Elijah and Elizabeth (Salt) Manuel. He immigrated to the United States in 1910. Mr. Manuel worked as a coal miner at Peabody Coal Mine #7 in Kincaid for 27 years. He was a member of Kincaid Methodist Church in Kincaid and the United Mine Workers of America.

Surviving are one brother, Charles (wife, Myrtle) Manuel of Kincaid; two sisters, Mrs. John (Thirza May) Rodgerson and Mrs. Michael (Ada Alice) Burke, both of Kincaid; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James Manuel.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 1945, at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid. Rev. J. W. Williams officiated, with burial following in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The flowers were carried by Mrs. Anna Sullivan, Mrs. Dorothy Manuel, Mrs. Gladys Bucshon, Mrs. Rosemary Sullivan, Mrs. Gwendolyn Dooley, Mrs. Juanita Tompkins, Mrs. Gwendolyn Daugherty, Mrs. Margaret Freeman, Mrs. Florence Burke, Mrs. Margaret Burke, Mrs. Mary Burke, Mrs. Hazel Isom and Mrs. Dorothy White.

Pallbearers were Carl Manuel, John Daugherty, John Burke, Patrick Burke, Bernard Burke and Charles Burke.
