Robert Muir, Sr. of Monrovia, MD passed away on Aug. 12, 2007 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Eleanor L. (Warnick) Muir who he married Aug. 24, 1946.

Born March 21, 1923 in Midland, MD, Robert was the son of the late James Gordon Muir and Janet Carmichael (McKinley) Muir. He worked as a coal miner before enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the European Theater of Operations as a bomb disposal technician. After the war, he returned to Maryland and again worked in the coal mines. Robert later delivered propane for Pargas and then delivered dynamite for Stoneyhurst Quarry.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by three children, Linda S. Morgan, Robert Muir, Jr. and companion Mary Ellen King, Pamela S. Cook and husband David; eight grandchildren, Timmy, Kevin, Tammy and Krissy Morgan, Robert Muir III, Nathan, Matthew, and Carrie Cook; seven great-grandchildren, Victoria, Casey, Samantha and Taylor Morgan, Delainy and Adeline Muir and Cody Morgan; sisters, Beatrice Ambrose, Elizabeth "Betty" Hartz, Hazel Fletcher and husband Harold, Lillian Gilbert and husband William, Janet Harding and husband Carvel; and a brother James Gordon Muir, Jr. He is also survived by may nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and his former daughter-in-law, Marian Muir Carter. Robert was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Clarence "Junior" Morgan, sisters Annabella Yommer and Jean Orme; sister-in-law Angela Muir; and brothers-in-law Pete Yommer, Lindy Orme, Richard Ambrose and George Hartz.

Funeral services were held at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. 15N, Frederick, MD, on Friday, Aug. 17, 2007. Interment followed in the Veterans Garden of Honor II at Resthaven.
