Jonas Schoonover was born near Saidora, Mason County, Illinois, April 15, 1848, the son of Lewis and Kathyrn Schoonover, and passed away very suddenly at his home northeast of Easton about eight miles, on Thursday afternoon, December 15th, 1927. Age 79 years and 8 months.
He spent practically all of his life in Mason county. Besides his wife, Mrs. Alice Schoonover, he leaves to mourn him two sons, Joe of Larned, Kans., Harve of Camp Point, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Schussele of Langmont, Colo., Mrs. Mary Hobbs of Amboy, Ill., and Mrs. Irvin Sidebottom of Mason City, Ill. There are still living six brothers and one sister, besides numerous other relatives and friends.
He joined the United Brethren church while still a young man and was a constant supporter of this church until his death. Funeral services were held at M. E. church at Easton on Sunday afternoon at 1:30, in charge was A. J. Henderson. Burial was in Easton Cemetery.
