Japanese Suberine Commander.

Sunk the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) on July 30th, 1945. Out of the 1,196 crewmen on the "Indy" only 317 survived.

Testified at Captain Charles Butler McVay's court-martialed after the war.

Became a Shinto priest at the Umenomiya Shrine in Kyoto later in his life and defended Captain McVay up until his death in 2000.
