Daniel Calvin Ashbaugh a Civil
War Veteran and age citizen of
this county died Christmas day at
his home in the west part of city.
He had been a resident of the
county more than 60 years. He
enlisted in the 26th Illinois and
served his country for almost
four years and participated in
58 battles. He was with Sherman
on his march to the sea.
He was born September 15 1843
being 80 years old at the time of
his death. He was married to Miss
Nettie Clark in Charleston October
5 1869 and to this union one child
was born John of Jackson township.
He leaves his wife nine grandchildren
and two great grandchildren and
one brother William Ashbaugh
of Union township a man older
than the deceased who was a Cap-
tain in the Civil War.
