U. S. S. PUEBLO. Writes Mrs. Vera E. Wentworth, 166 West Wygant St., Portland Ore., "Have noted several letters in your columns from the crew of the Pueblo stating that that ship was a good one and a home for real shipmates. I have reason to know that the Pueblo has ' real shipmates on board. My brother was attached to that good ship. He was accidentally drowned (in the Elizabeth River) and his shipmates erected a fine headstone in his memory. We appreciated this thoughtful kindness from the bottom of our hearts, and we would like to ask you to thank the men of the Pueblo through the columns of OUR NAVY, as my brother was always a great booster for OUR NAVY, and sent the paper home regularly to his mother. Enclosed is a photograph of the memorial erected by the Pueblo shipmates to the memory of my brother, Leroy McFarland, formerly gunner's mate on the Pueblo." Vol. XIV, August 20, No. 4 Our Navy the Standard Publication.
