In 1885, Edward was a wagon maker living with his brother Phillip and family in Center, Wapello, Iowa. In later years he lived by himself, near brother Lawrence. Edward does not appear to have married. He remained in Wapello, Iowa, dying in 1915 at age 76. (1915 was also the year that his brother Phillip died.)
Note: German baptismal records indicate that Edward's birth year was 1839, not 1838.
