In the 1850's, at the time of her immigration to Louisiana, the place of her birth (the village of Göcklingen bei Landau) belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria.

On the twelfth of May in the year one thousand eight hundred twenty-one, I, A. Forch at St. Laurentius Martyr pastor in the village of Göcklingen [near Landau/Pfalz], baptized the infant born the same day at the second hour of the night to Michael Greidenweiß [sic], blacksmith, and to Sibilla née Straub, legitimate married couple of the same village, to whom was given the name Anna Maria. Godmother was Anna Maria Bengert, wife of Ulrich Straub, day laborer of the village named. Here with me the following signed with their own hand
