Civil war Union Army Officer. He was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Adjutant of the 28th New York State Militia on May 11, 1861, and was honorably mustered out on August 5, 1861. A year later he was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Adjutant of the 132nd New York Volunteer Infantry on July 14, 1862, serving until he resigned on December 20, 1862 due to sickness. He then served as Lieutenant Colonel of the 28th New York National Guard fro, June 16, 1863 to July 22, 1863, and as Colonel of the regiment from September 1, 1864 to November 13, 1864.

He was the son of US Congressman David A. Bokee Sr.. Buried on February 26, 1884 on the family plot.
