Francis Grant
COLUMBUS, Kan. — Francis Grant, 78, 626 W. Walnut St., died at 10:15 p.m. Monday at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., where he had been a patient since Dec. 27, 1995.
Mr. Grant was born Sept. 25,1917, in rural Scammon. He had lived in Columbus for three years, moving from his farm in rural Columbus, where he lived for more than 50 years. He was a graduate of West Mineral (Kan.) High School.
He retired from farming in 1990. He was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church at Scammon.
He married Frances N. [Nadine] Holt in 1938 in Scammon. She survives.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Mary Handshy, Pittsburg, Betty Evans, Columbus, and Margaret Clugston, Detroit, Mich.; a son, Terry Grant, Fort Scott; a sister, Mary Grant, rural Scammon; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Scammon. The Rev. Daniel Mulvihill will officiate. Burial will be in Lone Elm Cemetery, rural Columbus.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Weir. The Rev. Daniel Mulvihill will officiate. Family visitation is scheduled afterward.
