THE TOMB

OBITUARY

Many times have I been impressed with the saying, "Death leaves a shining mark," but never more forcibly than when I was informed of the death of little Warren McGee, which occurred at his home, near Dover, on October 23, 1888. The miserable disease which claimed this sweet child as its victim was diphtheria, and, although he was sick but a short time, his sufferings were intense. He was only seven years of age, but bore his sufferings with remarkable patience. Able medical skill was employed and all the means were used for his recovery that loving hearts and willing hands could devise, but in vain. His death is the first break in the family circle, and has caused great sorrow to those who remain. How unexpected was this stroke of sorrow, and how unprepared was the family for such a trail, when the crushing blow fell upon this once-happy and now deeply-shadowed hearth stone! Little Warren possessed many lovable qualities which no one could fail to notice. He was sweet-spirited, affectionate, obedient and ever-gentle in his manner. He had often, in child-like simplicity, expressed a desire "to be an angel," and now his wish is granted and he is numbered with the angels who have bright crown upon their heads and golden harps in their little hands.

How sweet the assurance from the Savior's own lips, that the little ones who are called away by death are forever safe in heaven. He, who, while on earth, took the little ones in his arms, put his hands upon them and blessed them, has taken your little one to His presence and blest him forevermore; a beautiful flower transplanted from the earthly to the heavenly home.

May God bless this bereaved parents, sisters and brothers, and many they all meet little Warren on the other shore, where he is awaiting their joyous coming.
