NED ARMSTEAD DEAD
Ned Armstead died yesterday morning at 6 o'clock at his home east of town on South avenue. Mr. Armstead was 75 years old and had been sick about a year with dropsy. Mr. Armstead was one of the solid colored men of the community. Before the war he was a slave, and then he came north and did a small farming and gardening business. He leaves a wife, two daughters, and fours sons, one of whom is night policeman Andy Armstead. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from the St. James Baptist church. The services will be conducted by Rev. Blake, and interment will be made in Maplewood.
