Olavus was the son of Halvor Olson (Jewett). Both Olavus's parents were born in Norway. His mother was Karine Amunrud Peterson Monroe. Records also have her 1st name as Caroline. His parents were married in Iowa. Olavus or Olaus was born in Windom, Minnesota.

He was born Olavus Olson. See attached birth confirmation 12.8.1974 and baptism on 1.3.1975 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Windom, Minnesota. His parents were Halvor and Katrina Olson.

Once he was older he adopted the last name of Jewett. All his children with Ida went by the name of Jewett.

He married Ida Amelia Benson on December 31, 1901. They had seven children:
1) Henrietta died in 1904 at one 1/2 year old in Blackduck, Minnesota.
2) Gordon E. Jewett - married Gladyce Hissong.
3) Eugene OliverJewett (nick name Jean) married Blanche Hildegard Melin.
4) Luella Lovetta Jewett married twice:
1st husband: Albert Mose Bartlette
2nd husband: Ralph LeRoy Skifstrom
5) Marx Victor Jewett - died in his youth.
6) Warren Stitt Jewett married Florence Anita Maupin
