Mary Louise Jarman Blake, age 88, of Jacksonville, widow of Grover Bryant Blake, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at the Onslow House.


Born on Oct. 19, 1925, in Jacksonville, she was a daughter of the late John Louis Jarman and Mary Matilda Jarman Jarman. She worked for the FBI during WWII, as a civilian for the U.S. Navy, and also in retail for a number of years. She and her husband also owned a rental business and they were founding members of the Landlords Association of Onslow County. Mrs. Blake was well known for her loving nature, being a good neighbor, cooking delicious meals, and crocheting things for her family and friends. Her hobbies included watching NASCAR and following politics.


Surviving are her son, Douglas Bryant Blake of Knightdale; a daughter, Elizabeth Jeanell Huffman and husband Bob of Maple Hill; five grandchildren, Cynthia Keith and husband Gregory of Great Falls, Va., Kimberly Huffman of Jacksonville, Matthew Blake and wife Catina of Beargrass, Michael Blake and wife Jessica of Greenville, Mitchell Blake and wife Kylie of Jamesville; and six great-grandchildren, Dillon Blake, Jacob Blake, Riley Keith, Kaden Blake, Brooke Blake, and Kyran Blake. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Ira Jarman, J.M. Jarman, Louis Jarman, Alton Jarman; and a sister, Zannie Harrell.
