George Rex Camp, Sr. was the only child born to Calvin F. Camp and his wife Josephine Huston. George lost his father at the age of two years old, but was surrounded by a family group with not only included his mother, Josephine, but his maternal grandparents and both his paternal and paternal aunts.

George was united in marriage on October 5, 1908 to Edith Beatrice Doak in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. George and Edith were blessed with three children during their marriage:
