Bear-Bear was a Peka-Pom, he was a few days shy of being 19 years old when I lost him.

I lost Bear-Bear about a month and a half before losing my beloved husband George on Aug 3, 2012. They were both my world, and not a day goes by that I don't miss them both.

A friend of my brother's, his mother went to look this litter puppies, decided she didn't want one and because she felt sorry for him (Bear) as he was flea infested went back to get him.

She gave him to my sister-in-law and I told her when my brother came home and said she couldn't have him (my brother is more of a big dog lover) that I would come and get him. Sure enough he came home said she couldn't have him and I went and picked him up and he became my baby.

He had so much love in his little heart to give and he knew he was loved.

I think he had a nursing degree because anytime I didn't feel good he would never leave my side.

He had a few health issues and lord knows they were costly but we didn't care we just took care of the matters.

When he was about 7 years we had to take him to a Doggie Dermatologist as he had severe allergies and could no longer have people food and was put on a venison and potato diet, except we were allowed to choose one fruit that he could have and he loved apples. That was a treat that his daddy gave him every time he ate. If George wasn't quick enough Bear would let him know about it, and other times if he just decided he needed a treat he was quick to let him know.

When he was about 9 years old we had went camping and had to rush back home so he could have emergency surgery, he had to have 7 kidney stones removed.

His favorite things to do were eat apple, go camping and ride on the golf cart and loved watching the squirrels.

I have always fed the squirrels, and Bear would lay for hours on end on the back of the couch and watch them and you never heard a sound out of him.

One year their was a rabbit that kept coming to visit. George and the boys caught him and for awhile Bear had his own pet, they loved playing together until the rabbit would steal his dog cookies and then Bear would go and steal the rabbit's apples.

A few years ago we were fortunate enough to be able to special order a park model travel trailer and because Bear liked looking out the window we had patio doors installed for him to see, he was a bit spoiled.

When he would see me loading tote's to take to the lake he would either set by the door patiently waiting or he would go outside and wouldn't come back in because he was ready to go. He never done anything more at the lake than at home but he preferred being at the lake. When we would return home he always had a bit of an attitude because he liked being a beach bum.

He was a precious little angel and my best friend.

Love you always my little "Bear-Bear".

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
