Joseph was a soldier of the revolution Serving in Col. Henry Jackson's Massachusetts Rgt., Cpt. Webbs Co. He was discharged on Constitution Island (opposite West Point)June 1783. He married Olive Knight the daughter of another revolutionary soldier John Knight in 1799. Archive Pension file # S 29532
