John Preston was born in Bradley, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England - eldest child of William Preston and Jane Deyn; his birth recorded in Buckingham MM records:

"John Preston, Son of William & Jane Preston of Bradley in the Parish of Huthersfield (Huddersfield) in old England was Born the 22nd of the 2d month, 1699."

There are tax records of John as early as Jan 1722 in Buckingham, Bucks Co, PA, and in Dec 1722 John witnessed the marriage of his mother Jane Deyne Preston to Thomas Canby at Buckingham MM.

John first married Ann Hopkinson at Buckingham Meeting house in May 1737. Ann died about 1742. No confirmed records of children to John and Ann.

On 16 Feb 1743, John & his brother William Jr and wife Deborah Chesman Preston witnessed marriage of their cousin Wm (son Armor) Preston & Ruth Chesman at Buckingham Meeting House. A later bio Wm Kent Preston (son John Tansil Preston and Sarah Kent) reported John & Wm were cousins to Wm, Nathan, Henry, & Paul Preston, sons of Paul Armor Preston, all of whom lived in Buckingham. These latter Prestons immigrated to PA in 1683 from Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England, who provide clues about the extended Preston family in England.

In Jan 1745, John second married Elizabeth Tucker at Buckingham Friends Meeting House, Bucks, PA:

Buckingham MM Minutes, 4th day of 12th month 1744/45 (4 Feb 1745):

"At this Meeting those friends that were appointed to attend the Marriage of John Preston and Elizabeth Tucker Report that it was Decently accomplished"

John and Elizabeth had the following children:
*William Preston, 1746 – 1819, m. Elizabeth Scott
*John Preston Jr, 1750 – 1820, m. Rebekah Vickers
*Sarah Preston, 1752 – 1793, m. Thomas Dyer

Elizabeth died about 1752, possibly related to birth of daughter Sarah.

John third married Mrs. Sarah Richardson on 27 June 1753 at Wrightstown MM, Bucks County, PA.

John was disowned by Buckingham MM in June 1763, and had apparently become dissatisfied with the members/meeting, although continued to live very near to the meeting house.

John's Last Will & Testament was dated 7 Aug 1767, which listed land on Durham Rd, sons William and John as sole legatees, and his wife Sarah. Will was proved in Bucks Co, PA in Jan 1786, with his sons William and John as executors.
