FRANK R. WEAVER, POSTMASTER, DIES
Frank R. Weaver, postmaster at Newry, expired at his home in Newry, Monday afternoon at 1.50 'clock. He was stricken with a heart condition on April 4 and since that time had been confined to his bed. He was improving and was much better Monday forenoon, but after the noon hour he suffered a fatal attack.
Mr. Weaver was the son of Sylester B. and Anna Martha (Wike) Weaver and was born on June 6, 1884, at Newry, where he spent his entire life. His father was a cabinet maker and mortician of Newry for many years.
He was married to Bertie Lykens on Oct. 30, 1907, by the late Rev. C. Gebhart. He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. Helen Collins, wife of Dr. Gerald J. Collins of Spring Grove, and Francis and Paul at home. A son, Wayne, preceded him in death. He is also survived by two grandchildren, one brother, George W. of Newry, and one sister, Pearl, wife of J. Marshall Gibson of Altoona.
Mr. Weaver was widely known, having been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company in Altoona for twenty-five years, resigning there to devote his entire time to the postmastership and grocery store, having been postmaster for ten years, succeeding his brother, George W., in that position. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church, a faithful member of the choir and had served a number of terms on the church council.
Friends will be received at the home of his brother, George W. Weaver, in Newry after 7 o'clock is evening.
