Sir John de Bourchier was born about 1270 in Stansted, Essex, England. The first recorded Bourchier was John Bourchier recorded in 1321 England, wife Helen daughter of Walter of Colchester. Through his marriage with Helen, daughter and heir of Walter of Colchester, Bouchier acquired the manor of Stanstead, in Halstead, Essex, adjoining an estate which he had purchased in 1312. Sir John was Knight and on the Justices of the King's Bench. On 15 May, 1321, he was summoned to parliament at Westminster, apparently for the first time as a justice, and on the 31st of the same month was appointed a justice of the common bench. John and Helen were parents of Robert Bourchier. Sir Robert Bourchier Knt. recorded 1320's England, wife Margaret daughter to Sir Thomas Prayers. John and Helen Colchester de Bourchier are buried in St. Andrew's church in Halsted. Also Robert and Margaret Prayers Bouchier are buried in the church.
