Sarah Elizabeth Whitbeck was a daughter of Semour/Seymour and Lucy Maria Foster Whitbeck. Her father was born in Copake, Columbiana County, NY and her mother was born in CT. They died before she was a teenager, possibly killed by Indians, leaving their children orphaned. Sarah first married Adam Howell and had a daughter Mary Florence Howell (who married George Franklin Christison in Illinois and died before 1910). Her second husband was James W. Pearson and they had a son James "Jim", who probably died before 1910. Her third husband was Henry Boka and their children were Lillie, Minnie, Maude, Katie, Tonie, Claude and Lottie. She was a resident of Moultrie County and Macon County, IL; Grayson Co, TX; and Neosho County and Labette County, Kansas.

Mrs. Sarah E. Boka Dies at Age of 72

Mrs. Sarah E. Boka, aged 72 years, died at the home of her son, Claude Boka, 1412 Dirr avenue, yesterday afternoon, after a lingering illness. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the home, conducted by Rev. Roy Burke of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Valley cemetery. Mrs. Boka is one of the old residents of Parsons having come to this city over thirty years ago and during her long residence here, has made many friends who will be sorry to hear of her death. She is survived by seven children, Mrs. Lillie Wadsack, of Kansas City; Mrs. Minnie Harris, of Los Angeles; Mrs. Maude Isenbrandt (sic), of California; Mrs. Tonie Buddenhagen, of Parsons; Mrs. Lottie Foltz, of California; and Claude Boka, of Parsons.
