Claude Elmer Boka was the youngest child and only son of Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Whitbeck Howell Pearson Boka. He was born in Parsons, Labette County, Kansas 13 Feb 1886. He married Gracia A. Clark 28 Apr 1907 probably in Parsons and they had 4 children - Martin (b. 1908, d. 1960 in Monterey Co, CA), Cecilia (or Cecil, b. 1910, died young), Mildred (b. 1912, d. 2001, Mrs. Leo Ernest Jubelt) and Velma (b. 1915, d. 2005, Mrs. Eugene John Fachin). The marriage ended in divorce and Gracia and the children eventually moved to California. He married Mrs. Rhoda Estella "Teddy" O'Neall Jones in 1920. In 1910 and 1915, the census indicates he was a fireman on the railroad. His WWI draft registration shows his occupation as locomotive engineer for the M.K.T. Railroad. He lived for a short time in Springfield, MO; Fort Scott, KS; Kansas City, MO; Tonganoxie, KS; and in 1930 owned a shoe repair shop in Paola, Kansas, near Osawatomie where two of his nephews lived. In 1936 he was living in Springfield, MO, operating a shoe repair shop. He died in North Township, Labette Co, KS in 1939 at age 53 and is buried in Valley Cemetery, near Ladore in Neosho County, Kansas. Inez Trammell, a niece, said his grave is on the east side near the fence with no stone and cemetery records indicate he is buried in Lot 10, Section C.
