MURDER AND SUICIDE
Nathan Trine Kill His Wife and Puts a Bullet in His Brain at Campbellsville, Kentucky, September 14. Today at 12 o'clock the dead bodies of Nathan Trine and his wife Lucinda were found lying near the road on Stone Quarry branch two and one half miles south of here. Death had resulted in both cases from pistol shots in the head.

DEATH OF NATHAN TRINE Sep 14, 1897

Nathan Trine had three wives, the first Susannah died leaving seven children. The second wife was Parmelia Wayne whom he divorced. The third wife was Lucinda Carter whom.
he killed. From the book "Passing Generations", page 209.".Nathan Trine and wife. Lucinda were found dead near the road on Stoney Query branch. two and a half miles south of Campbellsville on the 14th. Both had been shot in the head. It is believed Traine shot his wife and then shot himself. Mrs Trine was his third wife.. first wife died several years ago. His 2nd wife divorced him.

Nathan Trine vs Permelia Trine

The Plff. Nathan Trine states that he and the Defendant Permelia Trine were married in this state the 4th day of August 1892 and they each now reside and have continuously resided in Taylor County KY for more than one year next before the commencement of this action that the cause of divorce hereinafter set out occured in this state and within five years next before thecommencement of this action.

He states that he and the Defendant lived together as man and wife from their marriage until 13 September 1892 at which time the defendant without any fault on his part abanonded his house and continued to live apart from him until 1st day of June 1893 at which time the Plff. induced the Deft. to again live with him, that he and said Dfft lived together as man and wife from the said 1st day of June 1893 up to October 18th 1894 at which time the Deft. with out any fault or like fault on his part abandoned him and his house and refuses to and has not since time lived with him. That during the time they lived together he always treated the defendant in... and affectionate manner and provided comfortably for her support. Wherefore he prays a divorce from the bonds of Matrimony and for all proper relief.

Answer and counterclaim

The defendant Permelia Trine for answer and counterclaim herein states and that she and the Plaintiff were married in Taylor County KY on the 4th day of August 1892. That her name at time of her marriage was Permelia Wayne, that she was a widow of Edward Wayne. dec'd., that she lived upon th small farm in which she had a life interest with her two small children, vesa son Ben Wayne, aged 22 and daughter Willie Wayne, the last named a small girl. The plaintiff persuaded her to marry him that after their marrage at the request of the Plaintiff, she left her little home and went with the Plaintiff to reside in his house on his farm near Campbellsville. That she resided there with Plff. in his house on his farm near Campbellsville. That she resided there with Plff. in his house and residence which is a large two story frame dwelling that they together as husband and wife until the 13th day of September 1902 during which time she bought her own clothes and worked and made clothes for Plff. and his children and done everything she could to make Plff. comfortable and happey when the Plff for the purpose of getting rid of her she has since learned, urged and persuaded Deft to move back to her old house where she resided before she married Plff as before stated. The Plff stating to her he would move over too as soon as he attended a certain wedding in the neighborhood. Deft moved back to her old home at the instance required and solicitations of Plff. as aforesaid. Then Plff. without cause or fault on the behalf of Deft. failed to keep his promise but without cause abandoned Plaintiff. She denies that on the 13th day of September 1892 or at any other time that she abandoned Plff without any fault on his part. But on the contrary the abandoning now done by Plff. himself as before stated
