Henry Franklin, 45-year-old World War veteran and mattress manufacturer, was shot and killed some time late Saturday after he left his brother's establishment. The man's death was further mystified by the knowledge that Franklin had no known enemies and considered a reticent man and never inclined to be forward. Unmarried, Franklin lived with his brother and sister-in-law at 502 Harmon Street, adjoining their mattress factory. He served in the U. S. Army from 1913 until he was honorably discharged July 13, 1925. Funeral services have been set for 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Dunne Funeral Home, with the Rev. T. A. Binford, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Sunshine Cemetery alongside his mother, Mrs. Sarah Franklin, who died in 1934. Survivors are his brother and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Lathrop of Alice and Mrs. Jewell Hurst of Glendale, Calif. Pallbearers will be member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Complete obituary can be found in the Corpus Christi Times, Thur., 10/21/1938, front page.
