Joseph Jennings
(August 1, 1929 - June 13, 2012)

Mr. Joseph Jennings, 82, of Troy, MO, and formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Lincoln County Nursing & Rehab in Troy. He was born on August 1, 1929 in St. Louis to Joseph and Anna (Semko) Jennings. He had one sister, Pauline and two brothers: Albert and Willie. After his formal schooling, he was called to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1947 until 1950. Upon his return home from the military, he moved to south St. Louis and this is where he met his future wife, Joann Darlene Rothfuss. They dated for several years and were married on May 22, 1955 in LaGrange, MO. They were blessed with four children: Joseph, John, Susan and Jill. During these years he worked for Ryan's Heating and Cooling as a sheet metal worker, retiring after 40 years of devoted service. Joseph was a good provider and dependable employee. The family had been members of Salem Lutheran Church in Black Jack for many years. He had served as an assistant scout master and was very proud that his grandson, Tyler, received the "Eagles Scout" award. Joseph enjoyed taking his entire family on a "mystery ride" each and every Sunday after church. They never knew what their destination was. Joseph would first drive to the Red Barn and everyone would get lunch at the Dairy Queen - and the journey began. He also loved to hunt with Uncle Charlie and liked to spend time with his many friends. The family always remembers him sitting on a bucket whenever he would work on any projects. Duct tape was dear to his heart, as he used it on everything. The St. Louis Post Dispatch was a part of his daily ritual. On Saturday nights, the family would watch the "Lawrence Welk Show". As you can tell, Joseph was a well-rounded individual. Trinity Lutheran Church was a big part of his life after moving to Troy 10 years ago. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. Joseph was so proud of his grandchildren and adored them all.

Surviving are his beloved wife of over 57 years, Darlene Jennings of Troy; his children: Joseph and wife Mary Jennings of St. Louis, Susan and husband Brian Parker of O'Fallon, MO and Jill Jennings of High Ridge; his adoring grandchildren: Pvt. 1st Class Jonathan Parker, Tyler Scott, Joshua Parker, Jessica Scott and Lacey Parker; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Jennings; and his three siblings: Albert Jennings, Willie Jennings and Pauline Miklovic.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 9-11a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Troy.
