Citizens News - June Maxine Hoard Dean, 85 of Lucretia who was a beloved mother, grandmother, greatmother, aunt, cousin, and friend peacefully went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in the presence of her loving family.
She was born in Flatwoods, WV. on Feb. 29, 1924, daughter of the late George Dewey "Dick" and Ressie Elizabeth Perrine Hoard. June Graduated from Sutton High School in 1943. Out of High School she worked as a spot welder in the shipyards in Baltimore, MD., She then worked for the two Dr. Eakles in Sutton, WV. (O.O.Eakle and Camden Eakle). She moved to Grafton in 1947 with her husband. After his passing she worked and retired in 1987 from Valley Community Mental Health as a community worker in Taylor County. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepard , B & O Ladies Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Mothers Day Quilt Auction, where she was fondly referred to as "The Bag Lady", She enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with her sharing love, laughter, and good times. Many of those wonderful hours were spent on her back porch. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love her. Surviving are her children: Linda Kay McBee and Husband Ronald. Sammy Kaye Dean and wife Diana' Roger Lee Dean and wife Kimberlea, James David Dean and wife Vickie all of Grafton, WV., Grandchildren: Melissa McBee Anderson and husband Jon of Fairmont,WV., Stacey Dean Freeman and husband Eric of Grafton,WV., Amanda Dean Dye and husband and David of Lost Creek. Lynsey Dean Mumaw and husband Shane of Grafton, WV., Kristen, "Nikki" Boylard, Tylor Dean and Taylor Dean all of Grafton,WV., Great Grandchildren; Zakary Anderson, Corey Freeman, Brian Dye, Noah Dye, Samantha West-Mumaw, and Natalea Mumaw; brothers and sisters in law; Saunnie Hoard, Glenville,WV., Norris Dean, Sutton,WV., John and Eleanor Dean, South Point, Ohio., Homer and Carolyn Dean, Siera Vista, Arizona. Thurman and Spaur, Clarksburg,WV., Patty Dean, Frametown,WV. Shelba and Randal Halstead, Mt.Lookout. numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, treasured friends, and neighbors.
In additional to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband Samuel Harrison Dean on August 13, 1971, and siblings; Donald Hoard, Charles Hoard and Charlette Reynolds.
Friends call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Avenue, on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 1 to 9 pm. and Thursday, October 1, 2009, from 8 to 11 a.m. She laid in repose at the church of the good shepard from noon until 1 p.m. time of the funeral service with the pastor Bert Cauffman officiating . Interment followed in Woodsdale Memorial Park. Donations may be made in June's memory to: Hospice Care, 7 Harman Circle, Grafton,WV. Submitted by Bill Cutlip
