Her husband committed the murders before a meeting in the family conciliation services office of the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court over custody of the couple's then-15-month-old daughter. He chased and shot both his wife and his brother-in-law in the head at close range with a semiautomatic pistol. Latife had filed for divorce from her husband after he gave her a venereal disease. She was 22 years old.
