Robert Charlie Hodge, 80, of Blacksburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Harris Hodge; son, Robert Kenneth Hodge; daughter, Karen Sue Hodge; three grandchildren, Matthew Todd (Jenny) Hodge, Joshua Lee Hodge, and Michelle Dayana Scumaci; four great- grandchildren, Benjamin Hodge, Nathan Hodge, Rebecca Hodge and Annabelle Hodge; and a sister, Hilda (Rudy) Helms.
Robert served with pride in the Army Reserves for over 50 years. He retired in 1991 after 42 years at Virginia Tech. His dedication to the Alleghany Church of Christ and fellowship will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel in Blacksburg. Robert will be laid to rest in honor at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. Online condolences may be left at www.mccoyfuneralhome.com. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Grundy Mount Mission in Grundy, or to American Legion Post #182 in honor Robert's years of dedicated service.
