1. George Archibald McMahan, b. 31 Jul 1835, d. May 1861
2. Sanders McMahan, b. 1842 d. 1914
3. Sarah Elizabeth McMahan Miller, b. 4 Aug 1843 d. 14 Dec 1906
4. Martha McMahan, b. 1846
5. William McMahan, b. 1848 d. 1870
Tombstone - created later - incorrect about "III". Archibald is referred to as "Archibald McMahan, Jr." in numerous Tennessee land records, and his father is referred to as "Archibald McMahan, Sr." An old family story - which is mistaken - says that we know "Archibald" was the name of this man's grandfather, but there is no evidence of that. It is possible, but not certain, that this man's grandfather was named "Redmond". The story was in existence when the very modern tombstone was carved. Notice the birth year on the tombstone is acknowledged to be inaccurate - the "III" is also inaccurate.
