William was the son of Chester and Sophia Bloomfield Norton. He married Emma Pierce on 23 November 1880 in Wood County and was later divorced from her. He was a telegraph operator. William died from Bright's Disease caused by alcoholism. Somehow his birth date got changed from 1857 to 1868.
