She leaves her husband of 61 years, Robert T. Collins; five children, Kathleen A. Hardy and her husband James of North Falmouth, Patricia A. Hammond and her companion James Power of Leicester, Susan M. Taylor and her husband Robert of Worcester, Robert T. Collins, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Worcester and Anne Marie Neale and her husband Sam of Worcester; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A brother, Robert "Pat" Barry predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Robert and Beatrice (Miron) Barry and graduated from Commerce High School.
Shirley worked as a bookkeeper and salesperson for Anderson Little Company, before retiring. She was a long-time member of St. George's Church. Shirley enjoyed reading, chrochetting, music, walking the beach and collecting shells and her time spent in Florida and Maine during her retirement.
Shirley's family would like to thank the staff at Holden Nursing Center and the Notre Dame Hospice team for the wonderful care they provided.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 26, at 10 AM in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council #88, 44 Circuit Ave. North, Worcester. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, the MASS/NH Chapter of the Alzheimers Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or alz.org.
