Mr. Nelson was one of the oldest residents of the town of Black Brook, he having been born in that town in May, 1848. He was a stone mason by trade, and was for many years in the employ of the J. & J. Rogers Company, in Au Sable Forks, and when not thus employed was engaged in farming.
His wife died about thirteen years previous. He was survived by three sons, Fred, Louis and Levi, and six daughters, Mrs. John Aubin, sr., Mrs. Fred Paro, Mrs. John Rousia, Mrs. Charles Coventry, Mrs. Herman Seguin and Mrs. William Sheffield; 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister also survived him.
The requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Kelly, pastor of Holy Name church, and the interment was in Holy Name cemetery.
