Mrs. Gokey of Marshfield is 105 Years Old--Spry in Spite of her Age
Marshfield, WI, Dec. 24--On Christmas day, 1897, Mrs. Angeline Gokey of this county will reach the advanced age of 105 years. She was born in Montreal on Christmas Day, 1792, where she spent the early part of her life. In 1841 the family moved to this state, settling in Milwaukee county, where the city of Milwaukee now stands. Two years later they moved to Theresa, Dodge county, where they lived for 30 years, moving to Wood county 20 years ago.
Mrs. Gokey is the mother of 11 children, 5 of whom are still living. Her husband, Frank Gokey, died in 1894 at the age of 109 years. A short time before his death he built a new brick chimney on their house.
Mrs. Gokey still does the work around the house for her two sons who live with her. She is in full possession of all her faculties and her eyesight is good.
