Messrs. and Mmes. Reed Ackley, Buford, W. T. Walker, Cloyd Cribbs, and Mrs. Emery Ackley attended the funeral of Orville(sic) Walker Saturday at Butler. Mr. Walker was a brother of Mrs. Flora Ackley.

In December 1955 Buford was living in/near Hammon.
In October 1956 Buford was living in/near Hammon.
In August 1966 Boots was living at Route 3, Hammon.

For the first time in several years the Boots Ackleys had both sons and families home for Christmas at the same time and not only that, but they are both now residents of Hammon. The Carroll Wayne Miller family moved to our city last week from San Antonio, Texas, and are at home in the Gladys Dow property. Mr. and Mrs. James Ackley and family arrived in the summer from Panhandle, Texas and are residing on the farm owned by Mrs. Jack Price. Jack Weaver, Clinton AFB was also a guest for Christmas dinner in the Ackley home.

In April 1967 Boots was living in/near Hammon.
In December 1973 Boots was living in Dill City, Oklahoma.

Services Set


Funeral services for Buford Ackley, Dill City, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in the Hammon school auditorium.

Mr. Ackley was born 03-24-1911, in Hammon, and died Aug. 7 in Community Hospital in Elk City at the age of 64.

He was married to Jean Hensley in 1934 and she preceded him in death in 1967. He married Lena Stafford in 1970.

He was a farmer and had lived in western Oklahoma all his life.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Lena, of the home; 1 son, James Buford Ackley, of Burns Flat; 3 step sons, Rex Stafford and Donald Ray Stafford, Odessa, Tex., and Carroll Wayne Miller of California; 2 step daughters, Mary Lee Boothe of Cordell and Carolyn Covington of Dallas; 2 grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Hammon Ackley of Cordell and Glen Ackley of California.

Burial will be in Red Hill cemetery in Hammon under the direction of Savage Funeral Home.
