Mrs. FRED E. TIFFT
Mrs. Mabel (Barber) Tifft, a long-time resident of Robinson Avenue, died this morning at Sourdiffe Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for a long period. The widow of Fred E. Tifft, she was 90 years old.
The daughter of Daniel P. and Fannie (Clark) Barber, she was born in Pownal, April 19, 1882. Her schooling had been in Pownal and Bennington and she had also attended Albany Business College. Most of her life had been spent in the Pownal and Bennington area.
Mrs. Tifft was a clerk and office assistant at the Bennington freight office of the Rutland Railway for a number of years while her husband was freight agent. Mr. Tifft died several years ago.
Survivors are one son, Fred B. Tifft of Bennington; two brothers, William Barber of Bennington and Sanford Barber of Schenectady, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Minetta Dill, Mrs. Charlotte Lyons, both of Bennington and Mrs. Fannie Buskey of Bellows Falls; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Saturday at a time to be announced. The Rev. Floyd I. LaBombard, pastor of the First Baptist Church of which Mrs. Tifft was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in the Village Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion E. Tifft Scholarship Fund of Mt. Anthony Union High School through the funeral home. Miss Tifft, a long-time teacher, was the daughter of the deceased.
