Was Railroad Man for 51 Years.
A railroad man for 51 years, Richard Gregory, 75, died Thursday afternoon at his home at 600 Sixth St, Valley Junction.
Mr. Gregory was a retired engineer. Born in England in 1859, he railroaded there seven years before coming to America at the age of 24.
Here he settled at Sedalia, Missouri, continuing his career as a railroad man. Later he moved to Horton, Kansas where he lived 13 years before moving to Valley Junction in 1902.
Mr. Gregory was a member of Pioneer Masonic lodge, a Knight Templar, a Royal Arch Mason and member of the Valley Junction Christian church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Carrie Gregory of Valley Junction, and four children, Mrs. Grace Roush and Mrs. Mary Crippen of Valley Junction, William Gregory of La Salle, Illinois and Charles Gregory of Osceola, Iowa.
