George Leslie Werts

George Leslie Werts was born near Castine, Darke County, Ohio, May 12, 1867, and died in Dayton, Ohio, January 15, 1929, at the age of 61 years. 8 months and 3 days. He was a son of David A. and Emily Ann Wertz, and spent most all of his life in the southern part of Dark County and the northern part of Preble County. About eight or ten years ago he made Dayton, Ohio, his home.
July 26, 1893 he was united in marriage with Ida B. Henn. To this union were born two children -- Mrs. Cleo M. Riley of Brookville, Ohio, and Virgil D. Werts of Detroit, Michigan. July 22, 1913 his wife, Ida, was taken from her earthly home to the spirit world.
February 22, 1921, Mr. Wertz, ws united in marriage to Lelia Johnson. To this union were born two Children, a daughter and a son Alvin Leslie. The daughter preceded her father to the spirit world.
He leaves to remember him, his wife, Lelia, his three children and one sister, Mrs. Monta B. Peirson, of Dayton. Besides the immediate family he leaves many friends.

One by one we are invited
To our Monarch's broad estate,
Not a single soul is slighted,
They are passing through the gate.

One by one we all are going
Down the pathway steep and straight;
Ah, the joy there is in knowing
We shall meet beyond the gate

George Lester Werts

George Lester (Let) Werts, aged 61 years, died at the St. Elizabeth hospital in Dayton Tuesday morning at 3:30 o'clock. He was ill for four weeks with flu and complications. Mr. Werts lived for a number of years in the West Sonora community but in recent years has made Dayton his home.
The body was brought to Lewisburg Tuesday morning to Kramer & Riley's undertaking establishment and this afternoon (Thursday) the funeral will be held from the old M.E. church in West Sonora. Rev. Albert Beachler, officiating. Burial will be made in Roselawn cemetery beside the body of his first wife, who died some years ago.
His immediate survivors are his second wife, one son, V.D. Werts, of Detroit, Michigan, one daughter, Mrs. Cleo Riley of Brookville and a sister, Mrs. Monta Pierson of Dayton. Ernest Henn of West Sonora is a stepson of Mr. Werts.
