DIES IN JACKSONVILLE
Body of Former Resident to Be Buried Here - Funeral at 3 o'clock Today.
Miss Emma G. Drayton, well-known to the older residents of this city, died yesterday in Jacksonville, Fla., according to a message received by friends in the city.
The body will arrive in Charlotte today and the funeral will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church this afternoon at 3 o;clock, in charge of Rev. George Floyd Rogers, the rector. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, her father being buried there.
Pallbearers will be J. Frank Wilkes, J. Renwick Wilkes, H. C. Jones, Thomas P. Moore, Dr. Myers Hunter, W. R. Robertson, Dr. Baxter Moore, Rawlinson Myers, Duncan Moor and W. C. Wilkinson.
Miss Drayton was well-known and popular in Charlotte for a number of years, having left here 20 or 25 years ago, since which she has made her home in Washington and in Jacksonville, Fla. She was active in the work of St. Peter's Church and took an active interest in other clubs and organizations of the city.
The daughter of Gen. Thomas Drayton and Katherine Pope, prominent and aristocratic southern families, Miss Drayton was born on November 12, 1850, at Charleston, S. C. During the residence of the family here General Drayton was engaged in the insurance business. The resided for several years at the old Buford Hotel.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Joseph D. Pope, and a nice, Miss F. D. Thomas, both of Jacksonville, Fla.
