VIRGIL EVERHART FATALLY INJURED
Funeral Services For Father of Local Man Are Held Near Morristown Monday Afternoon Virgil J.. Everhart. 54. father of Robert Everhart who operates a farm at the northwest edge of Greenfield, died at the Major Hospital in Shelbyville Friday night at 9:30 o'clock from injuries suffered when he was struck by an automobile at 7 o'clock that evening. The accident occurred as Mr. Everhart attempted to cross U. S. 52. Mr. Everhart had just completed his evening chores on his farm home located two miles west of Morristown on Road 52 and was attempting to cross the highway to his residence across the road when the accident occurred.
William Small, 72, English Hotel, Indianapolis, was the driver of the car. Small was not held, according to State Police Trooper M. H. Tasue, who investigated the accident.
Mr. Everhart was born in Scott county 14 February 1898, the son of Elisha Y. Everhart of Morristown, R.F.D. and the late Vina Stewart Everhart whose death occurred in 1934.
Surviving besides the father are the widow, Mrs. Edith K. Everhart: six children, Mrs. Mildred Copple of Fountaintown, R.F.D., Wayne Everhart of Glenwood, R.F.D.. Robert Everhart of Greenfield, R.F.D. 5; Harry and Sherolyn Everhart at home; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Engleking. Mrs. Pauline Peacock of Greenfield, Mrs. Ersa Lowry of Deputy; six brothers, Ernest Everhart of Taylorville, Illinois, Floyd Everhart of Morristown, R.F.D., Marvin Everhart of Shelbyville, R.F.D. 5 and Emerald Everhart of Morristown. Three sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 (DST) Monday afternoon at the Everhart residence with Rev. David Shepherd, officiating. Burial was made in Asbury Cemetery in charge of the L. V. Hauk Funeral Home at Morristown.
