Alfred Flavius Chase was the son of George Francis Chase and Mary Ann Burr. When his father returned to Kansas after serving in the military during the Civil War, he married Mary Ann Burr. They had 13 children, the first 12 (including Alfred) were born in Kansas. The last child, Alfred's youngest silbing Chester, was born in Oroville, California in 1890.
