Peter McKenna Chilton Times October 15, 1887

The tolling of St. Augustine Church bell, on Wednesday announced the death of Peter McKenna Sen., one of Calumet County's pioneer citizens. The deceased was a native of county Monaghan, Ireland and came to this country in 1826, located in New Jersey, removing afterwards to Ohio where he remained for 17 years and came to this county in 1849. He was ever a good citizen and worthy friend. He leaves six sons, Patrick, Peter, Alex, James, Edward and William and one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Higgins to survive him. He was in his 85th years and was as active as many men of a younger age. The day before his death he was in the city greeting his many friends. The funeral took place from St. Augustine church on Friday and was largely attended by old friends and acquaintances.
