The former Francis McCarthy was born May 28, 1888, in Minden, Nebraska, a daughter of the late John and Hannah Cavanaugh McCarthy.
On August 12, 1912, she and Otto J. Wagner were married at Clarks Mills.
Mrs. Wagner taught school in the Manitowoc area for six years and farmed with her husband until 1950, when they moved to Chilton.
The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary August 12, 1982. Mrs. Wagner was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Chilton, and its Christian Mothers Society.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Jerome (Leora) Spang of Menasha; five sons, Raphael of Madison, John Norbert of Sherwood, William Earl of Rothwell, N.M., Kenneth of Chilton and Clarence LeRoy of Mendota, Illinois; 23 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, six sisters and five brothers.
Funeral Mass was Tuesday at St. Augustine Church, Chilton, with the Rev. David Christel, pastor, as celebrant. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
