The Herald, Piedmont, West Virginia Friday 29 June 1923: "Joseph Mills of Westernport and Miss Nellie McGowan of Gilmore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McGowan, were united in marriage Wednesday morning in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. J. Brennan, pastor. The attendants were Miss Bertha McGowan, sister of the bride and John Sullivan, of Westernport."
