Clarissa Simons was born in New York to Irish Immigrant parents, James and Mary Simons. If research is correct, she was the last of 11 children, all born in New York. Her other siblings were: Benjamin Simons 1789; James Simons 1792; Jacob Simons 1793; Abner Simons 1795; Peter Simons 1797; Henry Simons 1800–1873, Henry married Mary Bizette July 5, 1820 in New York, they had several children; all born in New York; Jabez Hopkins Simons 1802–1860; Jabez married Thurza Van Tuyl in Luzerne Co. PA. All of their children were born in Luzerne Co. The migrated to Kane Co, Illinois about the same time as David and Clarissa did. They died in East Paw Paw, Dekalb, Illinois, and are buried at the East Paw Paw Cemetery....Find A Grave Memorial# 22990332; Mary Simons 1805–1805; Nehimiah Simons 1807, the 1860 Federal census revealed that he and his wife Romanda Simons were residing in Virgil, Kane, Illinois , they had two children. Living in the household was a servant in the home Cecelia Simons, 21, born in Illinois; Hannah Simons 1808.

In 1830 Clarrisa married David O. Culver in Luzerne Co, Pennsylvania. She give birth to ten children, but only seven had lived before moving to Kane Co., Illinois. They were : Abi (Aby) Culver 1831–1913, Abi married Emanuel Mallo; Mahala Culver 1833–1836. Mahala married John Culver; Mary E. Culver 1834 died as a child; David N. Culver 1836, the last record of him was in the 1950 Federal census; James O. Culver 1838, James married Henrietta Mallo on the Sept 17, 1866 in Kane Co. Illinois; Lyman M. Culver 1840, Lyman married Margaret McArdle in 1860, he died in 1897 and is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Kansas City, KS; Abram R. Culver 1842, Abram's Marriage to Maria Louise Schirmer was on Sept. 13, 1868 in New Ulm, Brown Co., Minnesota, he died on 17 Jun 1917 and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Cheney, Spokane, Washington; Catherine Jane Culver 1843, Catherine's marriage to Amasa Hoskins was on November 29, 1866 in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa, she died on April 1, 1903 in Branch, Camden County, Missouri; Oliver L. Culver and Eunice were born in 1848 and died in 1849; Simon Culver 1850, was born in Virgil, Kane Co., Iowa and died as an infant.
