son of Benjamin Palmer:
Benjamin Palmer, b. abt. 1684 in Wicomoco Parish, Northumberland Co. Va.
d. 1739
m. Anne d. before death of Benjamin
The first record we have of this Benjamin was under the date of Sept. 14, 1725, when Benjamin and wife Anne of Northumberland Co. deeded to Robert Duack of the same place, for 1,500 pounds of tobacco, 100 acres in Wicomoco Parish on Vulcan Creek which issued out of the Great Wicomoco River, being part of a patent of 250 acres granted to Henry Wicker in 1652, which said 100 acres was held by David Orland, the grandfather of Anne Palmer, one witness to said deed being Richard Hudnall (Vol. 1718-26, p. 385, Ntld. Co.). The next record of Benjamin was the administration on his estate, which was granted to his brother Thomas, although we have no record of letters being issued nor the date thereof. However, on June 11, 1739, a court order directed a division of Benjamin's estate to Robert Palmer, an orphan son, and said Robert received his share according to the return dated Oct. 9, 1739. This would seem to indicate that Robert was of age at that time in 1739 and would, therefore, make his birth in 1718. On Apr. 14, 1747, the entire estate of Benjamin was divided between six children as given herein, the said date being the date of the return of the estate of Alice Palmer, which left shares to nine grandchildren (Vol. 1743-9, p. 206, Ntld. Co.).
We have no dates of birth of any of these children other than Robert and are giving them in such order as we believe to be approximately correct.

ROBERT PALMER, b. abt. 1718 in Wicomoco Parish, Northumberland Co. Va.
d. 1783 in Wicomoco Parish
m. Elizabeth
Robert received the share of his father's estate on Oct. 9, 1739, at which time he was evidently of age, and he was called the orphan son of Benjamin, which would indicate that his mother had evidently pre-deceased her husband. The next record of Robert was in 1782 when he appeared in the U. S. Census of that year in Northumberland Co. with four white persons and three blacks. In the 1784 Census, Elizabeth Palmer appeared in Northumberland Co. with three white persons, one dwelling house and five other buildings. This would indicate Robert had died in 1783.
The will of Robert Palmer is dated Jan. 28, 1783 and probated May 12, 1783 in Northumberland Co., in which he mentioned his wife Elizabeth and his sons David, James and John, and he devised to his son James the land that he had purchased of Abner Palmer and where Isaac Palmer had lived, and he appointed William Nutt and Hopkins Harding Executors. The witnesses to said will were Moses Lunsford Jr., John Gibbons and John B. Aspray (Vol. 12, p. 29, Ntld. Co.). We have no further record of his wife Elisabeth nor the dates of birth of the children, but are giving them in the order in which they were mentioned in the will.

David, b. abt. 1750
James, b. , d. 1791 in Northampton Co., Va.
m. Susannah
The only record we have of James is his will in Northampton Co. dated Aug. 4, 1791 and prob. Oct. 11, 1791, in which he willed to his wife Susannah all if his lands in Northampton and Northumberland Cos. Until his son William became of age and then the lands were to be given to his said son, and the remainder of his estate was divided equally between his wife and his son, and he appointed his wife, together with James Lyon and Richard Duncan Jr. Executors (Vol. , p. , Ntn. Co.).
Only child:--William A., b. abt. 1775, d.
m. Eliza A. Q.
The only record we have of William A. is that he and his wife sold their land in Northampton Co. In 1817. There is also on record in Northampton Co. dated Apr. 8, 1816 a list of slaves which William A. acquired by marriage in Maryland and which he brought into Virginia. We have no further record of William A. or his wife.
John, b. , d. 1789 in Northampton Co.
The only record we have of this John Palmer is his will dated Nov. 21, 1789 and prob. Jan 12, 1790, in Northampton Co., in which he gave to his brother James and to his brother David each one-half of the land which his father Robert had left him Wicomoco Parish, Ntld. ., and also to his brother James all of his negroes, his horses, his silver watch and all the remainder of his estate, and appointed his brother James Executor. One witness to the will was Susannah Palmer, who was the wife of James (Vol. , p. Ntn. Co.).

m. Sophronia Montague
Da. of and ( ) Montague of Montague, Essex Co., Va.
David resided in Wicomoco Parish until about 1795, when he moved to Middlesex Co., Va. and continued to reside in that county the rest of his life in the vicinity of Urbana. David was in the 1782 U. S. Census in Northumberland Co. with four whites and two blacks, and again in the 1784 Census with five whites, one dwelling and four other buildings. He was a vestryman in the parish church at Wicomoco in 1794.
Descendants have given us only one child by the name of Opie, but data from other descendants of Middlesex Co. would lead us to believe that he also had a son Thomas, and we are, therefore, giving him these two children.
