Born May 2, 1934 in Newt, Kentucky, he was the son of Corby & Bertha(Vanarsdale)Pierce. He married Mary E.(Dial)Pierce on January 31, 1953 and she preceded him in death on April 26, 2002.
Survivors include children-Linda Riddle, Garnet(Marilyn)Pierce, Peggy(Steve Bushfield)Pierce, Barry(Lucy)Pierce, Rick(Kim)Pierce, Terry(Sherri)Pierce, Mark(Shelli)Pierce, Melvin Pierce, Jimmy Pierce all of Shelbyville; sister, Virginia(Don)Herald of Louisville, KY, brother, Dillard(Cathy)Pierce of Martinsville; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 6 sisters, 3 brothers, 1 granddaughter, Kelly Renee Pierce and daughter-in-law, Cindy Latimer Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was a resident of this area for 56 years after moving from Kentucky.
Jim was founder of Pierce tree service, which is still in operation today.
He enjoyed fishing, and playing his harmonica. Jim had a green thumb and was able to grow anything, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Paul South officiating.
Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
Visitation will be observed from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's/Dementia Association in care of the funeral home.
