Facundo Lucero was the son of Santa Cruz Lucero (ca. 1868 TX - 1928 TX) & Martina Lozano Lucero (1873 TX - 1954 TX).

The obituary of his brother Augustin notes that there were 18 children in the family. Records are a bit spotty, but Facundo's siblings are found as:

On 24 May 1913 Facundo married Celsa Perea Lucero (1895-1978). Their son Gabriel Lucero died on 11 June 1913, at age 2 months. A divorce was filed by Facundo in February 1920. He had claimed he was single when he registered for the World War I draft in 1917.

Pvt. Lucero survived the torpedoing & sinking of the troopship "Tuscania" on 5 February 1918 in the North Channel between Scotland & Ireland by German submarine UB-77. His Texas military record indicates he was severely wounded on 1 August 1918 and 10 October 1918, which earned him the Purple Heart. He returned from World War I aboard the "Walter A. Luckenbach" in March 1919 as a private in Co. H, 160th Infantry. Newspapers in El Paso TX later would note that he had survived a bullet through the heart from a German machine gun.

On 2 April 1920 Facundo married Hilaria Flores. They had five children:

Hortencia ("Tensy") Lucero Downey Rabago, ca. 1920 TX - 2010 CA. Married to Richard Elmer Downey (1915-1965) in November 1944. Married to Edward/Eduardo/Eddie Rabago in August 1983.
