Mrs. August Mahnke, 79, nee Emma Ruebe, of 1305 South Eighth street, died this morning of a heart attack.
She was born in 1869 in Lewiston, Wis., and at the age of 16 years moved to Portage. She was married there 1889 to August Mahnke, and they located in this city. Mr. Mahnke was employed on the Goodrich boats and later was a bridge tender. He died 21 years ago.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Edward Lutzke, Mrs. William Grapentine and Mrs. Frank Mrotek of this city; two sons, Arnold of this city and Richard of Detroit; brother, John of Pardeeville, Wis.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Schwanz of Pardeeville, Mrs. L.P. Hoffer of Portage and Mrs. Louise Koepp of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First German Evangelical Lutheran church, the Rev. L.H. Koeninger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
The body may be viewed at the Urbanek and Schlei funeral home after Friday noon and will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
