Rites Held For Massena Woman

MASSENA - Funeral services were held today in Massena for Vioet Angus, who died Saturday at the age of 86. The services were held at the Methodist church, with the Rev. A. Breeling in charge.

A resident of Victoria township for many years, Miss Angus was the last remaining member of a family of 12 children. She died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the state hospital in Clarinda.

Mrs. Charles Knee received word Saturday afternoon that her aunt, Violet Angus, had passed away. Her funeral was Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Massena.

The daughter of John and Jane Burnett Angus, she was born in Marshall county, Illinois November 24, 1866. At the age of two she moved with her parents to Iowa, and the family located at Marne. Later they moved to the Victoria township farm where Miss Angus lived for 68 years. Following the death of her parents, she maintained a home for two brothers, later coming to live at the home of a brother-in-law, W. D. Bell. She was cared for at the Bristow nursing home in Massena and the Agnes Walker home in Gravity and then lived for a time with a niece, Mrs. Marion Lund of Villisca. She was admitted to the Clarinda hospital three years ago.

Several nieces and nephews survive, including John Bell and Leo Angus of Massena.
