Daniel Lewis Schafer, 48, of Stewartsville R.D., died yesterday in Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, where he had been a patient for three weeks.
Mr. Schafer had been in failing health for the last three years. Prior to his illness, he operated a road-side restaurant on Route 24 between Phillipsburg and Washington for 13 years.
Born in Easton on Oct. 28, 1903, he was a son of the late Henry D. Schafer Sr. and Alice Miller Schafer. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Reformed Church, Easton.
Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Smith; a son at home; a daughter of Phillipsburg; one granddaughter; a sister of Easton, and a brother of Butztown.
